K-Drama Review

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo is about an socially awkward talented weightlifting college student learning about love for the first time. Basically she meets a childhood friend and he falls in love with h er, while she falls in love with his brother, whose profession is helping people loose weight. For all weightlifters, even in real life, you have to stay in a certain weight class in order to be able to lift in that section. As she starts to see this doctor, her coaches decide to up her weight class, meaning they think she should gain more weight. These two things of course causes all kinds of drama with her friends, coaches, family, and herself.

If you are looking for a drama that doesn't make you want to cringe while watching, then I wouldn't want to be watching this drama. Other than the complete cringe-filled episodes I find Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo amazing for several reasons. I would very much recommend this show to anyone who is up to a new type of show that touches so many topics that most shows just totally ignore.

Reasons:

  • Touches the issue of self hate

  • Touches the issue of bullying

  • Stays away from may cliches

  • Touches the issue of being adopted/fostered

  • Touches the issue of being poor

  • Touches the issue of missing a mother figure as a girl

  • Touches the issue of not being able to fit the magazines picture

  • Touches the issue of road blocks in life

  • Shows that anyone and everyone can fall in love

  • The main character is most definitely not a model and is different than what you would normally see on television

  • The ex-girlfriend is not the devil trying to ruin everything

I WOULD LIKE ANYONE WHO HAS/PLANS TO WATCH(ED) THIS OR STRONG WOMEN THEN WATCH THEM TOGETHER!(WEIGHTLIFTING FAIRY AND STRONG WOMEN)

THESE TWO SHOWS ARE INSANELY SIMILAR!
